Getting heartburn all the time?

It could be you have low stomach acid, not excess gas

Sorry I know this photo has nothing to do with heart burn but just threw it in for the girls.
As we get older, medications or no actual reason at all, causes stomach acid to decrease, which is called hypochlorhydria.
Amongst other digestive enzymes, low stomach acid (Hydrachloric acid)'s job is to digest your food. Without it, you can feel very uncomfortable after eating. The symptoms of low stomach acid are very similar to an excess amount of acid or hiatus hernia. Heartburn, indigestion or reflux of food could be the cause of your upset, but is simply resolved. A simple test using sodium bicarbonate or baking soda is all it takes. Here's what you do:

On awakening (before a drink or breakfast), put a 1/4 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in a 4-6oz glass of water and drink it all down. On your watch, time for 5 mins. You are looking for a very loud belch between 2 and 5 mins. Early and repeated belching may be due to excessive stomach acid. If you do tiny, little burps, or no burps, then you are likely to have low stomach acid. Repeat for 3 days in total. Further tests may need to be taken to find out just how low it is and find a solution.
