Chlorella, natures perfect superfood
What is Chlorella?
Chlorella is a natural and nutritious single celled green algae. In its natural habitat, chlorella and other algae appear as a deep green tint seen in lakes and rivers and grows only in freshwater. Under the microscope, it is seen as a single cell organism. Hence the name, chloros - Greek for green - and Ella - Latin for small. The ideal environment to commercially cultivate chlorella requires an abundance of natural sunlight, freshwater and clean air, all are ideal for photosynthesis. It has the richest source of chlorophyll on earth, containing all of the B vitamins, including folic acid and Vitamin B12. It also contains a rich variety of nutrients such as vitamin D, Iron and manganese. For optimum good health, the human body requires a huge variety of vitamins, minerals and amino acid’s, many agree that the easiest way for the body to absorb and metabolise these nutrients is through natural, whole foods such as chlorella.
Chlorella contains iron and folate which contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
Chlorella helps maintain normal colonic function and enhances digestive health.
It offers a daily boost of iron and vitamin B12 which contribute to normal energy yielding metabolism, and folate, which contributes to reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
Chlorella is grown in natural sunlight, contains vitamin D, which supports bone health and muscle function.
Many of the nutrients in chlorella including vitamin B12 contribute to the process of healthy cell division.
Detoxification of heavy metals from the body such as lead and mercury. Chlorella’s ability to surround the toxins and heavy metals resident in our bodies helps facilitate elimination and prevent reabsorption. Studies have shown that chlorella benefits the entire body by supporting healthy hormonal function, promoting cardiovascular health, helping to negate the effects of chemotherapy and radiation, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.
Promotes weight loss by regulating hormones, helping with metabolism, improving circulation, and promoting higher levels of energy. It also helps to reduce weight and body fat by removing stored toxins.
Makes you look younger. Chlorella naturally increases levels of vitamin A, vitamin C and glutathione in your body which eliminates free-radicals and protects your cells. By just taking 1 teaspoon or a couple capsules daily of a chlorella supplement, you can see results in as little as 2 weeks.
We are encouraged to eat more leafy green vegetables for good health, but sometimes it can be difficult to get the 5-7 servings of vegetables a day recommended by nutritionists and doctors of functional medicine.
While juicing is another option, for most people it can be too time-consuming, and frankly, most green leafy vegetables pale in comparison to the health benefits that chlorophyll rich chlorella can provide.
By consuming organic, low-temperature-extracted chlorella supplements, you can receive all of the chlorella benefits in a simple powder or tablet form.
A 1-ounce (3 tbsp) serving of chlorella contains:
Vitamin A—287% RDA
Vitamin B2—71% RDA
Vitamin B3—33% RDA
