Ladies, do you crave chocolate before your period?
Well this generally means that your body is craving magnesium, and yes, there is quite a bit in dark chocolate. Chocolate with 70% coco in the form of Raw cacao nibs/beans/powder, not the milk chocolate type, I'm afraid. Magnesium is also found in whole grains, beans, nuts, seeds, greens and fruit. In particular pumpkin seeds are the best form, therefore melting dark chocolate and throwing pumpkin seeds in would be a great way to satisfy that sweet craving as well as cure your deficiency. Alternatively you could try this recipe:
Chocolate Pumpkin Seeds
2 cups pumpkin seeds 2 Tbsp honey 1 Tbsp natural unsweetened cocoa 2 tsp cinnamon (balances blood sugar levels too) 1 tsp sea salt or table salt 2 Tbsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Spread out the pumpkin seeds on a parchment lined baking sheet, and toast them in the oven for 3-4 minutes. In a small mixing bowl, combine the honey, cocoa, cinnamon, sea salt, and oil. Add the toasted pumpkin seeds to the bowl, and stir to coat them. Spread the pumpkin seeds out on a parchment lined baking sheet, and bake for 12-13 minutes. Enjoy!
