5 Top tips to reduce stress in your life
1. Get to know your stressors.
Realise and understand what or who pushes your buttons. Once you know, you can start to eliminate or reduce the frequency of seeing that person or stop the pattern that leads you to the stress factor. This means that you can limit exposure to situations that impact you adversely.
2. Bliss list
Do something you love every day. Make sure you make time for this as this is what kicks in the dopamine which reduces cortisol (the stress hormone).
3. Discover your life purpose
Decide what you want in life and go for it. Life is short so you need to grab it while you can. This may not mean ending your job, although if your not happy, you could, but take up a hobby that makes you happy or excites you.
4. Honour your wellbeing
Be good to yourself. Your not getting any younger, but you can feel younger with good nutrition and exercise. You don't have to go to the gym every day if you hate it, go for a walk or join a dance group to let off some steam. Doing an activity that reconnects mind and body is very powerful and reduces a huge amount of stress. Try meditation, tai chi, qui gong or the many types of yoga.
5. Laugh
Watch something or telephone someone everyday that makes you laugh. Laughing reduces stress hormones, and let's face it, who doesn't feel better after a good giggle!
